Nowadays, rapid and violent volcanic eruptions do not happen. It is believed that the eruptions that brought out the diamonds must have occurred long time ago, when the Earth was much more hot than today.
The history of diamond cuts can be traced back to the end of the Middle Age. The rose cut is believed to have originated in India; but another contention is that it was actually developed in Holland, and the earlier Indian versions were crude forms of this cut. However, the rose cut got popular during the latter part of the sixteenth century.
AGS's grading system considers 11 combinations of three parameters namely proportion, light performance, and finishing properties to evaluate the fire and brilliance of the diamond under consideration. Based on these evaluations, the grade ratings of "Ideal", "Excellent", "Very Good", "Good", "Fair" and "Poor" are assigned. A diamond that meets AGS's perfect standards of symmetry, polish and proportion for cut grade is termed as "Ideal", and it is also popularly known as a "Triple-Zero" grade.
From the beginning, RUF had realized that whoever controlled the diamond mines, controls the country. It later became clear that their main aim was to control the mines, not to help the poor. They would take people as prisoners and make them forcefully work on the mines. People were heavily punished for minor mistakes. And a decade long civil war followed.
