As compared to natural diamonds, lab created diamonds don't harm the environment. Natural diamonds, as they are mined from under the surface of the earth, cause a lot of environmental hazards. On the other hand for lab created diamonds, there's no question of environmental hazards, as they are not mined from under the earth.
The story goes like this. Mr. X wanted to propose to Miss Y. He went to a jewelry store to buy a ring for her. He knew that she loved diamonds, but the diamond ring he liked was very costly. A white sapphire ring looked exactly the same, and was half the price. So he went ahead and bought it.
Carat weight is a huge determinant of the fancy colored diamonds' price, with large diamonds costing more than the smaller ones. Clarity is not such a big factor when determining the value of a fancy colored diamond. After the color, it is the cut and the shape of a colored diamond, which can actually enhance the beauty of its color, that determines its value.
Mr. Frederick Wells received a prize money of 3500 pounds for the discovery of the world's largest diamond. It was named Cullinan after Mr. Thomas Cullinan, the mine owner. The Transvaal government bought the diamond for 1,50,000 pounds. The then Prime Minister of Transvaal government was Louis Botha. He came up with a suggestion of gifting the Cullinan diamond to King Edward VII, which was presented to the king on 9th November, 1907, on the eve of his 66th birthday.
