The meaning and significance of diamond may differ under various systems enlisting the characteristics and natives of specific birthstones. For instance, while diamond is the modern and traditional birthstone for those born in April, their mystical birthstone would be opal and their Ayurvedic birthstone will, again, be diamond. Even among April-borns, if we go by zodiac signs (I am referring to the conventional 12-sign zodiac here and not the recent 13-sign thingy), birthstone for Aries natives (born between 2nd half of March and 1st half of April) is bloodstone and birthstone for Taurus natives (born between 2nd half of April and 1st half of May) is sapphire. You may want to refer to the Buzzle resource on birthstones by month to learn more.
The diamond comes in a variety of colors from perfectly colorless to yellow. The color grading is done by letters: D being the most expensive while Z, the least expensive. The following color grading chart will explain it in more detail.
Knot: This is the characteristic that is used to describe a crystal that is embedded inside a diamond and extends to its surface. Such a knot in a diamond is considered a risk from the point of view of the durability of the larger diamond.
Again, as diamonds are very hard, they can be easily sharpened at the edges. This makes the facets look very sharp on a real diamond. The facets will have a soft and rounded appearance on a fake diamond, as they cannot take on much of the cutting.
