Although much rarer than white diamonds, the yellow diamond is fairly common among fancy colored diamonds. It is a common misconception that yellow diamonds are less valuable than clear diamonds. However, Intense and vivid yellow diamonds can be worth a great deal of money although very light or slightly yellow diamonds are fairly standard and are worth much less.
Cutting the Cullinan was a crucial task. The famous 'Royal Asscher Diamond Company' was run by the Asscher brothers, Abraham and Joseph Asscher, in Amsterdam. They had successfully cut the Excelsior (the largest diamond before the discovery of Cullinan) and many other large diamonds. The great responsibility of cutting of the world's largest diamond, Cullinan, was a given to the Asscher brothers.
Dry the stone and the ring with a lint-free cloth, after you rinse the ring thoroughly with plain water. Use the cloth to polish the stone, so that it sparkles after cleaning.
Conflict diamond, hot diamond, blood diamond, war diamond, converted diamond―all these terms stand for the same. Diamonds that are illegally mined in a region in Africa, which is facing a situation of prolonged rebellion, military unrest or guerrilla activities are called blood diamonds as the primary purpose of their mining is to fund such activities in order to procure arms and ammunition for the same. Mining of blood diamonds has been taking place in the African nations of Angola, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cte d'Ivoire and Zimbabwe as these countries have a long history of coups and civil wars. Also, since the African continent is rich in diamonds, being responsible for supplying almost two-thirds of the world's diamonds.
