Hope diamond is the world's largest blue diamond. As of now, it is housed in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C., and its size is 45.52 carats. The sparkling blue color is due to the presence of boron. When it is passed under ultraviolet rays, it displays red phosphorescence.
The Octahedron is the largest naturally formed octahedral diamond in the world at 616 carats and is a Canary Diamond. This natural stone was discovered in 1964 in the Dutoitspan mine, located in the Kimberley region of South Africa. The Kimberley Octahedron remains uncut, so the color and distribution grades cannot be given to this diamond. The owners of the mine prefer to conserve the stone in the condition that it was found. The Kimberley Octahedron can be viewed at the Kimberely Big Hole mine.
◈The term 'baguette' means a loaf of bread in French. Baguette-cut diamonds are noticeable for their rectangular shape with square corners. They have step-shaped facets which are parallel to the girdle, thus giving them the name 'step-cut'.
Composed of carbon, which has been pressurized under the Earth's surface for thousands of years, a diamond has been one of the most precious and desired stones since the dawn of time. These coveted stones are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, ranging from shades of pink, blue, green, and purple, to red, orange, yellow, and even black.
